SA-M35 Mantis Storm Trooper by Keydan SA-M35 Mantis Storm Trooper by Keydan
Now for the pleasure of making it an RPG, the sci-fi universe is relaunched.

:iconcommentplz:

More a semi-poweraror than a regular armor (hidraulic motors provide movement to joints to make the frame easier to operate) the standart issue Storm Armor Modification 35 "Mantis" is produced by Horizont joined industries on Voshod.
Though slow to move in it provides great protection from most energy and balistic weapons. In addition, as every Voshod storm trooper armor, it can provide constant injections of component "berserk", making the trooper an unstoppable warmachine...
Over the the course of its use the armor modifications to the original design were minimal, mostly updating on the software, sensors, motor efficiency and quality of the materials, thus even military engineers have a hard time distinguishing between various modifications of the armor. To their advantage most parts in older and new armors are interchangeable. That and the lack of any top-line super-technologies made this suit legendary in terms of reliability and service lifespan. Some suites still used in the army garrisons date to be more than hundred years old, back to 14 and 15th modifications, though most suits prior to the 12th model are usualy seen in museums and not on battlefields.

Cool! I Always loved heavy infantry, no matter that they are mostly ripped to shreads by Tanks, artillery, airbornes, nukes but theres always something magical in a man and his armor :)

Power armor and drugs? :wow:

Works great. The drug is mostly testosterone and adrenaline, with some extra nutrition and nano-compounds for nerves and heart.

Now that would be enough to make a literal berserker.

Looks like a human tank with a mean blade that is about to kick down your barricades and ruin your day.

That;s what i was going for with Voshod. Most of those Voshod stuff, like soviet or russian stuff, would be simple rough, simple and effective.

Hm… interesting design. I see you decided to sacrifice flexibility and speed for defense. What's it got in the way of weapons?

As standart issue they have 9mm Timofeev Heavy Automat and the 3-barrel rotary 12mm autocanon.

Woo, this is great =P That blade looks nasty, and I like that muscle-like pattern on the thighs :D

It's a semi-power armor really, as in it doesn't add any agility or speed but helps to carry itself. And the blade is like a soviet bayonet, it flips and turns around for close combat.

Predominantly left-handed armor, interesting. I'd have to say that a ranged weapon would probably be useful as well, suppressing fire always makes it easier to advance.

Shield can be put on the second arm. And the do have ranged weamons like the TAT, a 9mm heavy assault rifle and a 12mm rotery autocanon.

I really enjoyed this design. Like an image from a kid's pretend laser fights, but much more refined and technical. Well done.

Kinda. You know when you were five and you and your friends would start making shooting noises, and pretty soon, it would escalate into all out 'war'.

True, we also used sticks as swords and pine pranches an shileds.
Plus an old bunker right behind our houses didn't help much...

We got to use torched cars tho. They were spaceships.

But I'm not sure about one thing... Why does it have shield on the right arm? ^^*

Mantis Troopers rush in large numbers under overwhelming fire, so they need all the protection they can get if they hope to get close enough to rip the enemy lines.

Nicely done.
I think for me "Mantis" inspires something sleeker, but that depends on the technology, I imagine.
